Acne & Acne Scars

Have you been on a journey to figure out what’s the secret sauce to getting rid of your acne? Have you tried multiple creams and washes and feel like you’re wasting your money, for little to no improvement in skin quality?

Acne, whether on the face, back or chest, can persist for an extended period of time . The jawline, temples, and tip of the chin are all typically much drier than the rest of the face, so harsh acne products could irritate the skin in these areas, and actually worsen acne breakouts.

Acne is an inflammatory skin condition that is influenced by oil production and a specific form of bacteria called P. acne. Depending on how these three factors interact, four basic types can form:

  • blackheads and whiteheads
  • Papules
  • Pustules
  • cysts and nodules.

We get confused about various skin conditions, never achieving the correct solution for them. Improving acne breakouts can take time but adopting the correct treatment plan can assist you to get on the right path to clear skin.

Do you know what causes acne?
But before we start – the Internet shouldn’t be relied on to provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If your skin condition is severe, always seek medical advice . Hormonal imbalance is identified as a key cause of acne. Understanding why an imbalance exists in a person is key to solving a chronic health issue like acne.

The oil or sebum in our skin is made by the sebaceous glands that reside in our hair follicles or pores, when cellular debris blocks to pores, the sebum becomes trapped, the bacteria multiply which feed on sebum, which then multiply further. The result is a comedone. The enzyme 5-alpha reductase plays a vital role in the production of sebum, and is directly affected by hormones.

Acne breakouts happen when several pimples, blackheads, or other kinds of acne appear simultaneously, typically in the same area. However, not everyone with acne suffers breakouts. Some people consistently have pimples that steadily appear and fade away. Other people only get occasional breakouts, and yet others have a combination of the two.

There are three issues that need to be addressed, firstly bacteria management, to increase recovery rates and improve wound healing, followed by acne scarring, which is linked to collagen depletion in the area of the acne lesion and then thirdly post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is linked to the trauma of the acne lesion as melanocytes become activated in the immune process.

Acne scars

Acne scars are shallow and deep depressions on the skin that appear after a severe acne outbreak. This type of scar is caused when the dermis is damaged during acne infection. In response to the damage, our body makes collagen fibers around the area of infection. The truth is, if there were only one specific acne trigger that you needed to focus on, it would be easy to get the clear and radiant skin you have been dreaming of.

It’s frustrating, I get it. You’ve tried every product available, yet you still get breakouts. If you have outbreaks on your back and shoulders, you can cover them with clothing, but for facial acne, your options are limited to makeup and masks. Unfortunately, both those options make the matter worse. Although mask-wearing to cover up acne isn’t really a serious solution, in the era of COVID-19, mask mandates have given acne suffers a silver lining for the time being. Sadly, the cloth coverup can irritate acne-prone skin and exacerbate your breakouts called “maskne” especially if you also wear makeup to hide your breakouts.

I can confidently provide you with practical information that you can start immediately. I have been specifically trained to care for your skin as a skin care expert. There are so many treatments, procedures and products that can REALLY help your acne, but it’s all very confusing if you try to tackle it alone. From microdermabrasion to chemical peels to hydration facials and lasers and many more.

Providing a deeper focus into clearing your skin beyond diagnosis and treatment. Book a consultation with Amanda today!
